Upon the exit of the General Seretary from the meeting with the President of Cyprus, Mr Downer made the following statement.

- The UN only recognise the Republic of Cyprus as the government of the island
- The meeting with Mr Talat was done under his title as leader of the TC community.
- The place of meeting Mr Talat has no political significance.

Apprently the UN was unaware of the change of plan by the talat and after having lunch at talats house, they were moved to the "presidential" palace for a meeting.

You can't say talat's not an opportunist. I believe he's made a fool of himself here though. Dragging the Secretary General from one room to another is ridiculous.
