Perhaps if you read your own links you wouldn't be so puzzled ...
''I must admit that we have delayed the opening of an embassy in Cuba for various reasons, financial and other, due to the (1974) Turkish invasion and occupation of Cyprus,'' Christofias said, adding despite the fact that Cyprus is one of the last EU member-states to open an embassy in Cuba, Cyprus was and remain one of Cuba's first friendly countries.
He also expressed hope that US President Barack Obama will proceed with bold steps towards this direction, given that he has declared a liberal approach in international affairs and the problems humanity is facing.
Thanks for that, but that was spotted.
A country such as Cyprus which is limited diplomatic resources, is probably also the only EU country that does not have consular services in New Zealand.
So why not open an embassy in New Zealand, for the benefit of expat Cypriots, and to also develop trade and diplomatic links with a nation of higher standing?
The Cypriot embassy in Australia is accredited in New Zealand as well.
Yes I do know this Kurupetos.
They are also very incompetent.
The Cyprus High Commissioner is George Iacovou's nephew, and he has the intelligence and mannerisms of a spastic buffoon.
I remember one Australian Politician actually being bewildered at the fact that Cyprus has sent this idiot to diplomatically represent the RoC in Australia.
But I seriously believe that NZ is an important enough country to have its own RoC embassy. NZ should certainly be a higher priority than Cuba.
