Well let's hope they can talk some sense into him, perhaps they can explain to him what democracy and human rights in the EU is all about and why under the EU umbrella there is no need for "guarantee" countries to have the power of military intervention in a sovereign State.

Could you kindly explain it to us? would it mean that GCs would not reduce us to minority status in our own country, do away with our community rights as per 1960 agreements? that they will not discriminate against TCs? Just how will this great "EU" do that? if things are not agreed before hand?

Come on Jerry, that was a cheap shot - and you know it. Clearly you haven't been watching the news regarding the riots in Greece, the innocent people getting their shops demolished and families terrorised! A Good EXAMPLE of EU Democracy I see - or is that the way the Greek mainland Police deal with so-called unprecedented events? Or is Greek football hooliganism also another safe example of EU values! It only takes a spark from either of the Greek or Turkish Cypriot communities to start a riot Jerry, espeically in a disputed island, espeically if the people are Forced to sign an agreement where not all are support - 65% of Turkish Cypriots saying "Yes" to the Annan Plan still leaves an angry and discontented 35% "NO"!! Sometimes prevention is better than the cure (I'm sure I've heard that somewhere before!).

Cyprus is a different kettle of fish Jerry. It's an island that's original constitution is shared among THREE guarantor countries (embedded in the release agreement from British Rule) If the Gurantor status is removed, then will the British Bases go as well - of course not, Britain will never give that up. It does NOT belong to the Turkish or Greek Cypriots alone - it's tooooooo, farrrrrrr, toooo important of a Strategic island for a bunch of farmers to control!!!!!

Don't think for a second that Turkey, or the United kingdom with their Sovereign bases, would completely let it go. Perhaps Greece might, but never the other two! This is where the talks always break down. This is where the Greek Cypriots, with their so-called Greek Cypriot "Majority" population feel that they deserve to be the dominating peoples on the island. I'm sure the argument would be different if let's say the "Turkish Cypriots" were to be the majority peoples.

Perhaps we should call back all 2-million Turkish Cypriots abroad to live in Cyprus for a couple of years simply to paint a different perspective. Unfortunately, the Greek Cypriot argument has lost its value after saying the same old thing over, and over again. It's getting tiresome now!

Cyprus is an island split into Three equal partners - I know the GCs don't, and never will agree to this madness, but isn't the Cyprus imbroglio a crazy mixture of historical events seething to embrace a Two Republic State formula in the near horizon?

Let it go Jerry,......Let....it.......go mate

You are a minority. Minorities in other EU countries do not demand "equal" status with majorities. The Law, backed by EU guarantees (not Turkey's), will protect your minority rights - same as in any other modern democracy.

Let it go indeed - Let it go to international arbitration and see how you come out!

Why should today's Cypriots be discriminated against because other countries want a piece of Cypriot pie.

So what you are saying is ditch your communities rights via the internationally recognized 1960 agreements and just become another minority like the Pakistanis in the UK and live in a GC dominated state? We are not like the Pakistanis we are more alike to the Scots of the UK can you understand the difference? We are not visitors we are indigenous.

firstly you are nothing like the Scots. Secondly, the only people that have ditched the 1960 agrements and do not recognise the 1960 Republic is you.
