The Turkish Cypriot education system of MISINFORMATION!

In the last five odd years, and in parallel to the many political negotiations that were taking place on the Cyprus problem, a number of cultural, social, and environmental projects had been orchestrated and carried out by UNOPS (the United Nations Office for Project Services) in an attempt to assist and encourage the “Cypriotization” of the island’s ethnic groups.

One of those projects was called “Education for Peace” and aimed at analyzing and modifying text books used by the respective education systems on the History of Cyprus. For the “TRNC” the initiative was taken by the Turkish Cypriot group “Project Oriented Searching Team” (POST) under the guidance of UNOPS. This brochure in PDF format will give you a better idea of what this project was all about…

And how do you explain the edudation, knowledge and life experiences of the TC diaspora who are greater in number than the TC's in the TRNC ? Most TC's are educated in other Western countries and not TRNC.

I recall as a child watching a GC documentary of a primary school GC class of kids being asked by the Greek priest - "Who killed Jesus Christ ?" and the GC kids were fighting to be picked to give the answer. Finally the priest selected a child in the class and he replied - "The Turks !" The priest then replied with "Bravo !"

In our schools they don't teach us anything against Turkish Cypriots. Against Turkey yes, and everything is true, but not against TCs. In fact they omit many of the crimes that TCs commited against us.

On the other hand in your shcools they brainwash you with hate propaganda against Greek Cypriots.
You know why is like that xxNilxx? Because the goverment of Republic of Cyprus has unification as an aim. It aims for a united Cyprus where all people live together in peace. therefore it is not in its interests to spread hate between the two communities.

On the other hand the aim of the occupation regime is partition. For this reason they are trying to present GCs as the "evils" in order to excuse why it is necessary to steal the lands of the "evil GCs" and Cypriots to be separated so the "innocent TCs" can be separated from the "evil GCs".

First of all if Turkey was any different towards us than what the Ottoman empire was then all that would be forgotten and forgiven and would be nothing more than history. Unfortunately Turkey continues today to act in the exact same way, invading our lands, keeping them under occupation and denying to the Cypriot people their freedom.

And about how Greeks first came to Cyprus you lost the bet. Greeks came to Cyprus many 1000s years ago, when Cyprus was mostly uninhabited and they created their own new cities on land that belonged to nobody. The Greeks came to Cyprus as traders and made Cyprus their home. The Turks came to Cyprus as invaders, with the aim to enslave and exploit the Cypriots.

I base this on what almost all TCs in here believe. If in your schools they taught the truth then the younger TCs wouldn't just adopt the hate propaganda of the Dektash generation.

Two examples:

1) Apparently in the TC schools they don't tell to the students that it is the TCs who initiated the inter communal confilict in 1958. They apparently don't tell the students that in that conflict some 100s of people from both sides where killed. They let the students believe that GCs are the ones who initiated the conflict, and that the conflict was one way only, with the "evil" GCs killing the "innocent" TCs, never telling them about the 100s of innocent GCs that got killed.

2) For 1974 they obviously repeat to the students the usual Turkish propaganda lie, that Turkey made a "peace operation" to "save the innocent TCs who were killed". They don't tell them the truth, which is that in 1974 no TC was killed until after the Turks with the help of the TC extremists invaded Cyprus and started to kill Greek Cypriots by the 1000s.

Is this not what they teach TC students Deniz? Do you not admit that the whole education in the occupied areas is based on excusing the invasion and the creation of the pseudo state, and they use their "evil GC" stories in order to achieve this?
