Game: Mad Greek sayings

Postby Magnus » Thu May 22, 2008 8:46 pm

I was listening to some comedy by Angelo Tsarouchas, a Canadian Greek comedian and he was talking about Greek sayings that have strange meanings in English.

I've only heard my family use a few of these but they are the ones I remember him saying.

Does anyone know any more?

1. Tha sou allaksw ta fwta!

>> I'm going to change your lightbulbs!

2. Tha sou psisw to psari sta xeilei!

>> I'm going to cook fish on your lips!

3. Koita na deis!

>> Look so you can see!

4. Tha sou sfiriksw mia!

>> I'm going to whistle one at you.

5. Katse st'avga sou!

>> Sit on your eggs!

6. Eksi kai kseros!

>> Six and dry!

7. To eksupno pouli pianetai apo thn myti.

>> Clever birds get caught by their beaks.

8. Na fas ta moutra sou!

>> Eat your face!

9. Tha se katharisw!

>> I'm going to clean you!

10. To kako sou to kairo.

>> Your bad weather.

11. Peire poly aera o kolos sou!
