We know well they are expensive but did you ever pay hundreds or more and get very little in return???
Perhaps you suspect some clients are being treated better than others? For example, I just read Conor's post today about how a lawyer who used to represent him and was later representing his opposition on the case. Sounds familiar?
The Estate Agent I used when purchasing property in Cyprus recommended a lawyer for which I paid CYP£1200.00. The lawyer promised that I would receive regular updates on the building work (off plan), photos of the various stages, and so on. NEVER, did the lawyer or a colleague from this 'highly recommended firm' do any of the above without my constant prompting, bordering on begging for information.
My Cypriot neighbour was kind enough to keep me in the picture regarding the development.
The lawyer has been totally useless and I subsequently found out that he was related to a salesman working for the Agents. I am not inferring a scam, but when I pay £1200 I expect something in return.
My neighbour was more deserving.
And before I get berated for my comments, I am well aware other countries have dodgy legal eagles, Spain being a major contender.
