Democracy wins in Cyprus

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Democracy wins in Cyprus

Postby Piratis » Sun Feb 17, 2008 7:34 pm

The people of Cyprus have voted today, one person one vote as true democracy should be, and democratically chose that the two candidates that will pass in the second round will be Christofias and Kasoulides. Congratulations to both of them.

Although my district elected Papadopoulos, we will of course respect the democratic decision of the Cypriot people as a whole.

In the second round, our vote will determine who will be elected as president. The one who we will vote for and therefore the one that will be elected, will be the one that will guarantee that such free and truly democratic elections will continue forever in Cyprus.

I am not happy that Papadopoulos did not pass, and I believe this is a loss for Cyprus. However as a democrat I respect the decision of the majority and I hope that the Christofias (or Kasoulides) + Papadopoulos goverment that will follow will be at least as good as the one we had the last 5 years.
