“Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country”
- Words from the inaugural address of President John F. Kennedy, delivered in 1961.
What can Turkish Cypriots do for their country Cyprus?
phoenix wrote:Kennedy could really have been referring to Cyprus with this passage from his famous speech:
" . . United, there is little we cannot do in a host of cooperative ventures. Divided, there is little we can do - for we dare not meet a powerful challenge at odds and split asunder.
.... we pledge our word that one form of colonial control shall not have passed away merely to be replaced by a far more iron tyranny. . . "
So poignant and so apt for the Cyprus problem. Perhaps the TCs can reflect on this lament too.

....and what did JFK get for his lament? Yet I agree with HIS words, not exactly paralleled with the Cyprus prob, because there was never a 'WE'. There was always 'you' and 'us'. We never had the same ambition. Always at odds. Unfortunately.

So what you are saying is that I leave my job, home friends, community environment and move south? to an all Greek state where 99% of the population are GCs and everything is in Greek from the Flag to the national anthem?? and try to fight against discrimination and every turn? do you really understand what you are asking? I might as well go live in the UK or the states where at least language will not be a barrier.
TCs do not feel they are a part of "Cyprus" they have been part of the Turkish Republic of Cyprus and even with all its faults and how much you try to disregard it we feel we belong here, until a times comes where we feel we TC are part of the "Cyprus" you refer to we do nothing as we are neither wanted or regarded as an internal part of your GC state. The AP and any other plan will be testament to this fact you have just not realized it yet.

Deniz, what was the TCs ambition and did they realize it?
