Ever heard of the Royal Horiatis Syndrome?

Postby Get Real! » Wed Aug 01, 2007 9:37 pm

There seems to be a group of Cypriot people who have studied and/or lived in the UK especially in the fifties and sixties, that have this OVERWHELMING NEED to defend the UK no matter what...

The funny thing is that the people from this group were are all BORN & RAISED in Cyprus, were excellent specimens of the typical "horiatis" of Cyprus, and yet once they had spent a few years, or decades, in England seem to be convinced that they have acquired British Royal Blood in their veins!

A typical characteristic of this weird bunch is that they LOVE to criticize Cyprus, put down the Cypriot people, and adore the "west"! They LOVE to go on about how "small" and "insignificant" the Cypriots are and probably have premature ejaculations running down their pants when they talk about how mighty the "US" or "Britain" is and always include themselves as if they are a part of it!

I've always been puzzled by this bizarre phenomenon and have named it the "Royal Horiatis Syndrome"!

Are you familiar with this phenomenon and do you suspect any forum member suffering from it?

Well, I see that your story is seemingly irrelevant to the "Royal Horiatis Syndrome" so have you come in to make a confession FC? :?

free_cyprus, to get back on topic ,I would like to mention that I know of many Cypriots of advancing years who were either dis-possessed (and chose to reside in the UK) or went there to escape the disharmony in their own homeland.

I do not know of any one of them who does not share the same opinion regarding the interference of the UK/US in the awful events which led to the division of their country.

It is indeed a strange phenomenon to recognise that there may be some of those who migrated, ready and willing to abandon their own 'ROOTS' and embrace the society of they who destroyed their own.

I believe the general term of 'TURNCOAT' is an apt description of such people, they are to be pitied since they have substituted their identity for a lesser one.

They are under the impression that their new country is 'Helping' less fortunate nations, they are oblivious to the fact that the generosity they exhibit abroad is paid for at the expense of themselves.

The people of the UK have become downtrodden by successive governments and yet STILL have the capacity to consider themselves superior to those of us who value our freedom.

THAT is the real phenomenon............................. In my humble opinion. :)
