Tantalising Torture Techniques for Terrorists! .....

Postby Oracle » Wed Jul 09, 2008 4:05 pm

Could a case be made for the use of torture?

After all we fund the training of specialists with our Taxes.

Some countries obviously spend more in this area than others.

When I heard of Waterboarding recently, I assumed it was another fun-frolicking sport to do at the beach.

Until I came across this article:

Which countries lead the World in trained torture techniques? What should they be allowed to get away with?

I don't think any one should be tortured, but if lives could be saved by making the "canary sing" then I think drugs should be used - not physical abuse.

Ethically using drugs is the same as using physical force ...

An article in the UK "Focus" magazine recently dealt with interrogation techniques.

An operative in the US security forces stated that.....

"Countless innocent lives have been saved as a result of applying aggressive techniques to detainees. The resulting information led to the prevention of terrorist attacks."

You would be hard pushed to find a country that do not or have not tortured detainees.
There are varied arrays of torture still used, from the simple blindfold to the electrfying of testicles. If it saves lives go ahead.

He knows something that can help you save innocent lives so rip his fingernails out one at a time and if that doesn't work just keep going.

OK folks, think beyond the sadistic tendencies  ...

Why should we fund an outdated, barbaric method of obtaining dubious information from somebody, whilst violating their Human Rights ...

What exactly has ever been solved by obtaining information in this way?

If everybody recognised human rights torture would not be necessary.

To paraphrase the words of Christ (allegedly) "do unto others what they do unto you".

Re ... I think he said "turn the other cheek" :? ...

Not that I care what Jesus said ... there were much better philosophers than he before, during and after his "time" ....

Everybody does not recognise human rights, that is why torture continues.
I am afraid we live in a world where human rights and life are not taken into consideration when wanting imformation that is not given freely..
