Pheonix all villages have a special something for their inhabitants. If you asked me I'd have to say Episkopi.

I thought Pissouri was a sprawling suburb of the SBA .....

Put yourself in a village setting, and if you still have that special something, then volunteer yourself as a landmark / area of outstanding beauty / of special interest ....

No... the SBA starts at the outskirts of the village... hence 2 points on my driving licence...

Umit ... I am thinking more of tourists, visitors, day trippers ... rather than inhabitants ... otherwise we would all be giving away our preferred village as being the same as the one we live in ...

Or, are you just trying to find out where I live again ...

But why Episkopi?

If you need something touristic it hosts Kourium ( Not sure of the spelling ) , it has a spectacular unspoilt coastline ( since most of it is TC land ) and the fact that my mother was born there makes it special for me.

I should say Lemythou where my house is though it doesnt have a lot happening the people are so friendly with a real sense of community and I feel at home there. and as with all the mountain villages the setting and views are wonderful and being one of the highest villages in Cyprus we often get a white Christmas (Logs on the fire and all that).

But as Oracle would probably say I,m just being biased.

So I'll go for Platres (Pano) where we first lived when we got married, everything you need is available in a beautiful Alpine style setting. Once the tourists have gone back down the hill then again it shows that community spirit that can only be found in the mountains.

Anglissidhes/Anglisiya.

I dont mind the visitors or tourists.

The land of my ancestors.

The vineyards, olive and carob groves where I spent plenty time toiling.

The low lying hills and oft dry river beds. The waste lands and the secret

places where I would find the best wild asparagus and Narcissi.

The mountain of Stavrovouni standing erect like a giant spynx. Watching

it every morning reborn and rising through the morning mist.

There is no other village better than my village. I would say that even

though I have not lived there since 1963. I can still smell the pine trees

above the vineyards, and the Feslegen/ Fistica/ Basilica/Vasilija in the

inner courtyard of our old house.

I will always remember the Papa (Yorgi) on his tractor driving through

the main street. I will never forget the comic sized Turkish priest

travelling from Alaminyo on his aged donkey every friday so he could

lead us in the Friday prayers.

That is MY village. It will always have a special place in my heart. I hope

to live there again one day. The blossom of the almond trees beckon me.
