Hi i was going to do the same thing, i looked into it, but it really not worth my while as they get you on the tax. It cheaper to buy in Cyprus, and with no hassle. Trust me, forget it just buy a car when you get there and sell your car in the uk before you leave.

Don't bring a decent car over here.

The general standard of driving skill here is so low it probably wouldn't' last that long.

If you must bring your car over give Pickfords, Sterling Relocations or any of the other big international movers companies in the UK a call.

They will be able to provide you with all the details and costs and it won't cost you anything.

Haven't got the numbers to hand but easy to find on yell.com or similar.

well my jeep is worth £14.000 and i would have to pay £4.000gbp in tax. To ship it i could have sent it by freight and it can take up to 2 weeks to get there, that would have cost me £600 hope this helps

well my jeep is worth £14.000 and i would have to pay £4.000gbp in tax. To ship it i could have sent it by freight and it can take up to 2 weeks to get there, that would have cost me £600 hope this helps

Not forgetting the approx £150 / 200 'grease' charge to the customs officials at the port as they will most likely refuse to inspect the container during normal hours meaning you pick up their overtime bill ......

Mark, how the hell did you work out the tax based on the price of the car? You are talking shite. I suggest if you don't know what you are talking about you just shut the F up.

The Duty paid is dependent on the engine size, age of vehicle and type of vehicle.

If you tell me the type of vehicle, engine size and age I may be able to do a rough calculation for it.

As for greasing the guys at the port, total rubbish, when the container comes, the shipping company will get it through customs and you drive it away same day. You then have 3 months to register it.

Yes, you can buy a used car from the "mandres" all over Cyprus. Most of them are pre-owned vehicles from the UK (I am not joking, just ask the dealers). Ironic isn't it?
