There is a short film on www.youtube.com entitled "The Greek man from

The film is a hillarious racial comedy based on true experiences about a
young British born Greek Cypriot male constantly being mistaken for a
pakistani

You can watch it online by simply clicking on or copy and paste the

one of my nieces is very dark and often gets mistaken for someone of Asian background.

She thinks it's very funny at times .

This film makes a good point. In the UK people seem a bit negative towards Asians (Indians and Pakistani's), and muslims in general. And it's a shame that some Greek Cypriots are mistaken for this just because they have dark skin. It's unfair because culturally and religion wise we are nothing like muslims or Asians, so why should we accept this as part of life.

Karma, what I said was not racist. There is nothing wrong with being Asian or muslim. Unfortuneatley there are areas of the UK where people can be very ignorant towards these particular ethnic groups. Do you live in the UK? If you lived in the UK you would understand. The British are not racist towards Greek Cypriots, but alot of Brits openly admit they do not like the massive amount of Asians in UK, and because of the media, they fear muslims. Until we actually tell them we are Greek Cypriots, alot of them assume we are muslims, or Asians, and we have to put up with racial abuse and get called names like "terrorist" and "paki" , when we are not these things...you tell me , is this fair? I am speaking from the point of view of a British born Greek Cypriot, I have lived in the UK all my life, and I have always suffered prejudice for being Asian and muslim, when I am not, I am a Greek Cypriot , and that is why I could relate to the film. This is about mistaken idendity, ignorance, and people's perceptions. Do you still think what I am saying is racist? If you do then you have totally mis-understood me. And I apologise if i've cause you any offence.
