My_Friend, I am not sure if there are any of your countrymen using this forum but do know of an Irishman who spent a considerable amount of time in The Hague, he was thereafter apt to utter 'Lik M'Rate' whenever in dispute with anyone.

Welcome to the forum Marco, hope you have a great sense of humour and could you please interpret the meaning of our Irish friend's utterance ?

:) :) :) :) :)

This is quite funny, almost Borat level.

'Lik M'Rate' translated to Dutch is "Lik mijn reet".

Which means in English : "Lick my Ass".

So, I don't know if he used that sentence, when a dutch Police officer asked him for his passport at the Airport...

No.

Surinam is quite, ehh, underdeveloped compared to Holland, the rich dutchies go to places like Bonaire, Curacao, Aruba in the Carribean, as these islands are part of the Netherlands and you don't need a visa if you're Dutch.

But these islands are real drug havens, lots of poverty there, not safe at all, especially Aruba and the Dutch Antilles. And not to forget the huge amount of rainfall in Surinam, and hurricanes in the Carribean. :(

I did my homework... Cyprus looks great on paper... can't wait...

My_Friend, you are quite right about the rainfall in Surinam.
When I last spoke to my Irish friend (last week), I did ask him about the weather there, he replied, "Sure it's raining down on top of me!",
I wonder what else he expected the rain to do.
