Weather forecasting

Postby devil » Tue Mar 13, 2007 6:06 pm

As many of you know, I have a weather site at http://www.cypenv.org/weather/ with data from my own measurements

I'm contemplating putting in some expensive forecasting software with a 3- to 7-day forecast. This will use synoptic data from the whole of the E. Med region, the airport METAR stations and, above all, my own weather station. Over 48 hours, the accuracy should generally be better than 95% from 48 to 168 hours, it will get progressively poorer to, say, about 50%, but it will be updated typically 4 times/day. Anyone interested in this service? (It will be free of charge but voluntary contributions will be welcomed after it comes on line as the software is expensive and I've already spent over £1000 out of my OAP for equipment and software, without counting my time).

And PLEASE don't turn this thread into a partisan battle.

Sorry CV thought that more people would have seen "The fast show" and would have known what I was talking about. The fast show is a comedy sketch show and what I am referring to is about when the writer of the show was holidaying in Spain. He remembered sitting at the bar and watching the Spanish news on the TV. When he wrote the sketch afterwards he obviously exaggerated what he really heard. The two catch phrases came about because firstly he could not understand anything that was being said except for a few words. So the news was read like this:

Fa fafafa fa fa fafa fafafafa fa fa, Butross Butross Galli. Fa faffa fafa......etc etc etc. (The first catch phrase)

The second one was the weather. He just thought what a waste of time it was because in a Brits mind the weather is always hot in Spain, so as the weather girl read out the forecast she said:

Fa fafafa fafaf fafa (and as she stuck the symbols on the board, which was always a great big SUN, she would say) Scorchio.....Fafafa fafafa fafafa fffa. This was done for every region over and over again.

SOooooooo, with my fast as lightning wit I bounced into this thread and made everybody laugh with my interpretation of it for Cyprus.

The show was not really that funny to me but it got many awards for doing the same sketches over and over and over again
