Apostolides/Orams

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Apostolides/Orams

Postby observer » Tue Mar 13, 2007 12:18 pm

The Apostolides/Orams case appears to have disappeared from the news since the UK High Court judgement. Apostolides said that he was going to appeal but nothing I have heard since. Isn't there a time limit during which you have to place an appeal? Is this the case and has an appeal been placed? Does anyone know?

There was a lot of confusion aided by a lot of propaganda on this one Observer. The appeal was only for the cost of the case to the Apostolides not to the outcome of the case. The lawyers of the Apostolides made the statement right after the decision outside the courts.

Not true, Zan. The whole of the original judgment has been appealed. It would be interesting to know where you got your information from, though.

Zan, do you have a source of your information, or did you just make it up?

Sorry mate missed this post in all the sadness of Andri.

I have looked for the news paper article that was printed directly after the trail but cannot find it. I also had this discussion with Kifeas either on this or the OTHER Forum and I thought it was a done deal. I am willing to be corrected if things have changed but at the time the lawyers outside the court were reported to have said that the appeal WAS for the amount of he court costs. As I say when I pointed this out to Kifeas he just asked " So what. What have you gained from this". Maybe my claim of victory was a little to premature?

This is not the article that I mention above but as close as I could find. Did I read this article wrongly. Now that I look at it, it may mean something else than what I thought it to be.

The appeal is due to be back in the European court in three months.

I think it will take longer than that. The decision to send the issue to the European Court of Justice for a ruling must be taken by the Appeal Court and then the procedure before the European Court of Justice might take a good two years.

Don't know the answer to this. But they should be found guilty. They knew the risks involved, but yet they continued to rip off the Cypriots of their land.
