Can we sympathise/empathise with each other?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

I will take it further to say that dperhaps we have reached a level of maturity as cypriots to put into to practice what you have described above. I also think that the generations that perpetrated such violent acts have now aged if not passed on and with a new generation of Cypriots we could make a change if we all want. We can start by challenging our own governments on policies and issues to take action.

Personally I beleive that more Cypriots need to stand with plakcards at the steps of the Presidentila palace in Nicosia demanding that the RoC governement act quicker adn faster and with more vilgilance on issues of unification.

I also choose the word unification here as I do not believe that cypriots were ever allowed to be unified , yes sure there times when they tolerated each other but not really acceted each other as the same human being that they are.

Hello dear humanist.I hope time has been healing some of the pain your family is feeling at the loss of the unborn baby.I have been sending you some Sufi prayers (via the ether) to help...

I do believe if there is going to be a just and lasting solution it will come from the people.Politicians have too much to lose if status quo changes. The big problem however is that people living in Cyprus do not seem to be as enthusiastic as we are in the diaspora to have a solution which will unify our belowed motherland. It is as if the status qou has slowly sipped into their soul, and is stopping them from wanting anything else. It is more understandable in the case of TCs,who are now a minority even in their pariah state, but it is puzzling to me that more GCs are not more demanding of their leaders to find a solution.I am now convinced that the GC NO at the referandum has been a bitter blow for the TCs,who know feel twice rejected by their compatriots. I honestly cannot see where a solution is going to come from. But I believe mutual empathy will have to grow a lot bigger before the politicians will act...I think us in the diaspora will have to push much more in the direction of a solution, which might ve a catalyst for those in Cyprus to begin agitating again...

I never thought I would ever give people computing advice...but dear humanist if you type {quote} and write whatever you want in between/or copy and past what you want, and type {/quote} but with [ ] instead of { },everthing in between will appear as a quote in a box... :)

It is called being human...The trick is to be aware that we are capable of extreme compassion and extreme hatred, and do something about the later before it errupts. in Cyprus there were many people who were fanning the fires of hatred, for their own despicable reasons.I think we all agree on that.

Those barbaric animals who killed the wife and children of Major Ilhan at Kumsal in 1963,went home afterwards, washed their hands and kissed their children goodnight, before geting into bed with their wives...They metamorphosised into caring, passionate family men at the blink of an eye.

The key to solving this problem is for the TCs to start empathisising with their GC brother/sisters,and vice versa. When all TCs start shedding tears for the wrongs done to the GCs (without justifying the harm by whatever means), and when most GCs start shedding tears for the pain and suffering of the TCs (without similarly trying to justify the evil acts by the minority of monsters amongst us),and demand that justice be served now, without delay and without any conditions, there will no longer be a Cyprus problem... :(

Bir ,you have a beautiful way with words , clarity , sense and honour . I agree with every single word that you post , and I'm confident that there thousands upon thousands of Cypriots who love and adore their children and grandchildren and would not wish them to experience the conflicts that the older generation has gone through. I look at my 3 year old grand daughter and I would do anything to make certain that she and all other Cypriot children do not have to endure the pain and suffering of the past years. Hatred is responsible , but more potent is the indoctrination that still takes place at schools , religious gatherings , civil activities etc. The RoC must face realities and elevate it's overall thinking to levels that all Cypriots can reach , touch and feel part of this island as their own , not merely a part of it but all of it.

Can we sympathise/empathise with each other?

Can you make chocolate mousse with these ingredients, 2 sardines and a bit of HP sauce?

Yes, thanks Pitsilos. A little tiring but well worth it. Hayman island and the great barrier reef was amazing. Meeting BK was a bonus.

Pitsilos you crack me up man ........ :) :) :) :) it is funny good on ya for picking it up.

Birkibrisli ........ yes the family is doing better, I for one have felt a lightness over the past few days. My sister in-law of-course is mostly affected. Though I have seen a loving caring side of my crother that I had not experienced before. Who knows God works in mysterious ways. I have my own belief system which also helps me to cope and one that suggests that perhaps the soul of this baby was to experience what it experienced and pave the way and path for the following baby to experience a greater love. Who knows.

Thank you for your wishes, much appreciated and heart felt.

As far as the Cyprus thing ....... yes I have no idea where it will go either and sometimes I think it's not really going to move anywhere. Your reference to GSC's having given up .... I think they have and thus have concentrated on building an economic strength instead. I am really not sure. Just thinking out loud I guess.
