The case of the 5 year old GC missing boy translated

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Piratis » Tue Aug 21, 2007 2:18 am

I think the truth was uncovered. Beyond that Hakan/Christakis, his mother, and Politis wanted to protect him and his family so they closed the story the way they did. After all Christakis is now Hakan, and he would have to continue living with his family in Turkey so it is enough for him and especially his mother to know the truth, and the rest of us can think whatever we want to think.

Of course we wouldn't mind to use this case to score some points against Turkey, but in this case attempting to do so would be self defeating since such thing would put in risk the life of the only missing person found alive so far. So even if the government knows the truth I don't think they will ever say anything.

If I was shown this photo and asked to guess where this man came from I would have said he is Greek Cypriot....

Exactly! I would say the same too. I'd go as far as saying that it's DEFINATELY him....because it is!!! :D

That makes 3 of us....Only I wouldn't say Greek Cypriot. Just Cypriot.
This man looks like a real Cypriot.

I think you are spot on,Piratis.
The ramifications of declaring Hakan to be Christakis were just too great.
After all Hakan can never be Christakis any more than I can be.

But I would've loved to see Hakan returning to Cyprus as Christakis and embracing his real mother at the airport. What greater proof that deep down we are all the same human beings, one human race, separated by artificail factors like language and religion and upbringing... 8)

Ahhh, If I had Paraschos in this forum, the great interrogator Pyro would make him speak the truth in just one hour!

There are so many things he hides. First of all Christakis was 5 in 1974,and he spoke only Greek. He was about to go school within months. So question No1: What year did Hakan enrol in Elementary school???

A GC boy who knew no Turkish would need 2 years minimum to learn some Turkish and enroll in Elementary school. So the earlier date he would enrol (if Hakan is indeed Christakis) would be 1976. In that case Hakan should have been 7 or even 8 years old!!!

Where are you Paraschos??? I need you here!

I see where you are coming from Pyro, but Turkish is a phonetic language and as such it would take an even shorter time to learn, which in turn makes the Christaki=Hakan theory a fact. The only thing that bothers me is the fact that a lot of SYrian origin Arabs (plenty in Adana) can be very light skinned and fair haired. Nevertheless from the photos they are one and the same.

He looks like many things... Syrian, Iraqi, Lebanese, Cypriot, Turkish, Israeli, Egyptian, Jordanian... take your pick.
