La Télévision Suisse Romande had a 10 min segment on a magazine programme, Mise au Point. last night on the Ledra Street barrier. They interviewed a number of people from both sides with a voice-over translation into French. The upshot was a general opinion on both sides that
a) the demolition is still meaningless and is just political propaganda for PrezPap and Co., because no one is able to walk through where the wall stood
b) citizens from both sides are firmly convinced that the Green Line would have disappeared long ago were it not for politicians on both sides
c) that the very costly UNFICYP will be here for some time yet

Interviewees were asked why they crossed the line
GCs said to gamble at the casinos and for cheap goods
TCs said for the nightlife and to shop for a wider range of named goods, especially designer clothes

I found the segment very well balanced

And what move was not meaningless since 1974? The Turkish troops are still there occupying north Cyprus and refugees are not back to their homes yet. Everything else if meaningless. I think they should just close all the gates not open more because opening gates is meaningless and it didn't help at all. The turks opened the gates in 2003 for propaganda reasons.

After 1974 you carry on under Republic of Cyprus umbrella which also TC coyntry and use the benefits of it and you should accept all the Republic of Cyprus benefits which given to TCs. And i m sure Papadopulus will love to close the gates but he dont have rights.

who is occuping Turkish Cypriots homes in South Cyprus? How about Greek Army in Cyprus?Aren't They occuping forces too.Do you remmember 1967.They were more than 10000.When the Turkish Air Forces fled over the Cyprus.....Just for wornig ,they left the island.They came back.Remmember before 1974 What Macarios Was saying.Remmember always why Turkish Troops are in Cyprus.Since 1974 no more bloodshed in Cyprus.
We don't do propaganda. We always saying that Peace at home peace in the world.not like you.you wake up with Turkish Troops and you sleepe with Turkish Troops.We trid to unite the Cyprus.You were rejected......

I started it, in all good faith, as a simple report on the Swiss report which pointed out the commonality of both sides. Within a handful of posts, you have distorted this into something tantamount to sectarian violence.

why delete my writing.I asked very simple questions?first of all we are having a problem in cyprus.we can not solve the problem always blaming one side thats why i wrote above writings.you are always saying same things like gramaphone.pls close your eyes and think......
