Are the ENGLISH people in CYPRUS are TWO FACES ???????

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

The Roman God Janus had 2 faces. He stood at the doorway, looking in and also out. We get the English word "Janitor", the caretaker/cleaner from this root.

Janus must be very happy tonight. GAV is posting again! How many faces does he wear?

I am married to a Turkish Cypriot. My parents are from Malta and I was brought up in England. My parents are Catholic, but not practising. In England I grew up in London and met all religions and races. I learned about the Muslims and Catholics and we do all believe in one god.

I have read alot of the posts and I can see all points of view, but do there need to be so many attacks on people.

Cyprus is a divided Island , which is unfortunate. I think it should stay divided. I have heard obviously from the Turkish Cypriot side of things, but I have always kept an open mind. I like the Greek side and have had no bad experiences with the people.

Maybe I am naive, but can we not just agree to disagree and leave it at that. I think that most Greeks and Turks want to just get along and actually they want peace.

Is that what people want on this BB? Be open to other people and their opinions and have respect.

Hi Jo

Being open and listening to differing views of others is what we should do on this Forum, but as you will soon see (CyProb) many people see only one side of the story and are not prepared to understand why others have different points of view. they may not end up agreeing but they should at least listen - and you are right - there is no need for persoanl attacks here because they hold different opinions.

Hi Lana and Thanks.

I hope others see that too. I want to use this forum as a tool for information on Cyprus. I like both sides and I am hoping that I will get some information on activities and things to do in Cyprus.

These too and fro arguments settle nothing really. I am English and have taken the time to try to get a more rounded view than that told to me by my GC friends. There were atrocities and wrongs on both sides and its time both sides accepted that.

I agree that meddling and interference from other nations contributed and personally I believe the division was manouvered by Henry Kissenger and the UK (who almost went to war with Turkey at one point but were stopped by America) stood back and watched.

A divided Cyprus was what was wanted and a divided Cyprus is what happened with an American base on the Turkish side.

Personally I have no problems with either Turkish Cypriots or Greek Cypriots but to take one side without trying to understand both is a bit blinkered imo.

I agree Sweetie Pie. We need to look at both sides and even though I am on the Turkish side and married to a Turkish Cypriot I will always try to do that.

You are right Baggieboy . I m a TC by the way .

IS THAT SO..........2 DAYS AGO YOU WERE ENGLISH..........born and bread in London..........but now your TC ? You slag off England and the English people, not forgeting Scottish,Welsh and N/Irish as they are part of the UK too, was'nt it the same UK that welcomed your parents with open arms and gave them a new fresh start in life and then you came along 100% born an Englishman and recieved a good free education, housing,Social security bennifits, free medical care etc,etc
When we Brits come to Cyprus or Turkey to live........we get "F*CK ALL" it is the fact that we have taken our years of hard earned cash which we have saved to live on, as that is the only way we can survive as we dont recieve handouts and would'nt expect them either as we are proud people with strong morals.
Final message from all True Blue,Red & white Brits on this form to you ...................."WASH YOUR MOUTH OUT WITH CARBOLIC SOAP" and most importantly "NEVER BITE THE HAND THAT FEEDS YOU"

BULLSHIT
I come Uk not long ago . My family runaway from Cyprus when Cyprus were colony and because of the English System. I graduate in Cyprus. My family and myself never get any benefit from UK and we paid a lot of taxes in UK. Medical care anything happen to me i fly Cyprus because here is very bad healthcare. Being british doesnt mean that i m English. I only have the passport and pay taxes for UK. Never UK give my family welcome with open arms. It was very hard time for them because they have to work hard and i have to do same. We pay only tax for your country. we didnt have any benefit or help. What you talking is the people here are the lazy refugees and lazy people who lives like a dead. WE FEED UK YEARS AND YEARS and still today i m feeding them with the taxes i pay, what are you talking about. And i dont accept your message from the all brits because all are not same like you.All english welcome to my country as long as they are good person. Did you ever get bad attitude in cyprus or turkey? But i get in UK because here many people dont want the foreigners. but in cyprus we welcome to all foreigners.
