For DR. Zigmund Birkibrisli.

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Are you sure its not one of those fake blinged-out ones??? Come on - you must admit they are a bit tacky???

I'm sure, and yeah I'm more than happy to admit the fake "bling" ones are tacky, I wouldn't wear anything that would make my skin turn green!

Oooh look he knows the word 'pussyhole' too. Who is your favourite Jamaican artist? Sean Paul or Elephant Man??? lol Did you know what dancehall music WAS before the songs 'Heads High'?? or 'Zim Zimma'??? lol. Did you only listen to Tupac and Biggie before then??

          Funny!

I used to live in a estate full of Jamaicans in my early refugee years in London , I know everything about Jamaican music. Reggea, Dancehall, Roots....

I think Sean Paul and Elephant are alright as it goes, they've made some good contributions to Dancehall, I prefer their old tunes though, and Elephant when he was with Scare Dem Crew but their new stuff is too commercial, ain't really a big fan of their new tunes, aint really a fan of the new sounds full stop.

I like all the Emcees, the new and the ones from back in the day. Yellowman, Cobra, Bounty (in his "War Lord" days, he's been a flop recently), Buju, Capleton, Hammond, Shabba, Beenie, Ward21, Spragga, Lady Saw, Tanya Stephens, Patra, Sizzla, Ninja, Degree I could go on all day, I have too many favorites to list...I pretty much know of them all though.

As for hiphop and rap, I lost interest long time ago...but I still listen to some Biggie, Tupac, Rakeem, Wu Tang and the one that reminds me of my youth so much Da Brats first "Funkdafied" album. Other than that I'm not really into hip hop.

In that case - without surfing the net - who founded the famous Studio 1 label? Or who is recognised as the first reggae deejay with a recording contract??? Your talking to someone who did a university project on the history of the Jamaican music market :D

Sean Paul is boring to me and a rip off of Super Cat. If his skin colour was blacker - he wouldnt have sold as many records world wide. I used to like Elephant Man a lot and liked his wittiness which was lacking in dancehall when he came around. I get real bored of the 'bun chi chi man' stuff tho. The rest id agree with you, modern reggae music seems kinda weak to me know and all these new 'riddims' are lacking in music. I grew up on the dancehall of the 80's and early 90's. My favourite dancehall artist for me is probably Ninja Man or Tiger - the era I grew up on.

Your talkin about the 90's it seems. Yeah a good era - but for me after the bogle riddims came out, dancehall sounded repetitive. Dont mind early Capleton but that is one guy who chats a lot of shit and is very contradictive. I heard he aint that popular in Jamaica these days for that reason. Same with Sizzla - i liked him when he first came out but some his latest stuff is just bullshit. I love classic reggae like Denis Brown, Alton Ellis, all the studio1 stuff. Im a big fan of Lovers Rock too. Yeah I like Beresford Hammond also.

Hip Hop is a joke now - infact real hip hop is almost dead. I like SOME of the newish stuff like J Dilla (RIP) and Nas' new album seems good - but he came out of hip hops golden era. Yeah I like Big Daddy Kane, early Red Man, Ultramagnetic MC's, Rakim, KRS1, Wu Tang, Large Professor, Pharcyde...I could go on and on. Never got into Tupac - thought he was ok but think most of the people who still like him got into his hype after he died and all the crap remixes they made of his non-released stuff.

As tempted as I am to search I'll be honest and tell you I don't know...tell me who though...

I forgot to even mention Supercat. I think a lot of people copied him, not just Sean Paul. The whole chi chi man thing has gone kinda far, and its caused a lot of inconvenience to the artists themselves too so I don't know why they're so stubborn that they won't just find a better cause to talk about. They always end up contradicting themselves and discrediting themselves anyways, if only they would get their acts together I think they'd do a lot of good for their people instead of brainwashing them and making them uncivilised.

The riddims are nothing to what they used to be, only once in a while does a half decent riddim come out and its usually wasted with some bullshit lyrics with a bullshit childish chorus and they get played out so much that you're bored within a week. "hot fuk, hot fuk, quack like a duck..." :!: :?: :!: :?: I hate all that bs!

Yeah I know, I like Capletons & Sizzlas deliverence though so no matter what bullshit they chat I still appreciate their music. 90's was when I started listening to reggae so naturally it's my favorite. Everything before that I do like, but it's not what really gets me hyped up. Beenie Man is probably one of the most unpopular artists these days. Since he married that Angel woman and started a big war with Bounty over her, he's been going downhill big time. Apparently Sean Paul is going to come back with a new style with his next album, I hear he wants to "spread a new message" I have a feeling it's going to be shiyte since he's so commercial he's probably going to end up doing the Dancehall version of MJ's "Earth Song"

For the time being Dancehall is going downhill just like hip hop, people are more interested in producing hits to get rich, then they are in making good music.
