4Mbit ADSL for CY86 all inclusive!!!

Postby Sotos » Fri Mar 09, 2007 1:26 pm

Netway now offers 4Mbit ADSL over the Primetel network for 86 pounds + VAT all inclusive. The price includes the rent of the phone line! 2Mbits for 56 pounds. If you add 10 pounds more you also get the PrimeTel Digital TV. Sounds good :D

Sounds like crap in my opinion.

What is even more amazing is how all the providers offer the same bloody packages at the same bloody prices.

Internet services in Cyprus are the highest in Europe, evidence that there is no competition in the market.

Check out the prices in Europe

Nobody else offers 4Mbits ADSL so what are you talking about? If you find me a way to get a broadband connection from a company in Singapore then great! Otherwise this is so far the best we can have here.

I commented on the fact that the ISP prices in Cyprus are extremely high.
I did not compare with SG , I compare with other ISPs in European countries which offer similar services at much lower prices.

Why should I be happy when they are offering such an overpriced service and expect people to pay for it. This is the mentality in Cyprus that I hate. Market is non competitive so they can just attach a price and to hell with the consumer since there is no where else to go.

Even in Greece now they are offering better quality and better prices and we had ADSL 3 years earlier than them. The consumer has been paying a premium for so long due to the cyta monopoly however now that the market has been "deregulated" I still see the same prices. That smells fishy to me.

Let me quote a few prices for you since you were too lazy to check them or choose to ignore them for whatever reason.

Netway rate is 150 Euros approximately

Croatia
Typhoon 3256/400 kbps - 75 Euro
TriplePlay Vodatel d.o.o. [29] - FTTH (Fiber To The Home) Basic package for 27 Euro(2mbits up/down)

Czech Republic
# 2048/256 kbps, no limit, 1:50 - ~€39
4096/384, no limit, 1:40 - ~€64

Germany
16000/1024 (€30)

Greece
Approximate Prices for unlimited usage* offers:
OTE bitstream + ISP - 768/192 Kbps ~ 18-22 €/month
OTE bitstream + ISP - 1024/256 Kbps ~ 22-25 €/month
OTE bitstream + ISP - 2048/256 Kbps ~ 30-36 €/month
Vivodi shared LLU - 2048/256 Kbps, 29 €/month (119€ for 6 months, 199€ for 12 months)
Vivodi shared LLU - 4096/256 Kbps, 49 €/month (139€ for 6 months, 239€ for 12 months)
HOL shared LLU - 3Mbps/256Kbps, 19.59 €/month on a 12-month contract
HOL shared LLU - 4Mbps/512Kbps, 23.87 €/month on a 12-month contract
HOL shared LLU - 8Mbps/512Kbps, 39.33 €/month on a 12-month contract

Hungary
ADSL Maximum 8192/512 Kbits/s €39 per month Unlimited

Do you still think that it sounds good?

Greece has so many islands and I am sure the prices do not change depending on whether you live in Crete or Athens.
