WHY BUY PROPERTY IN CYPRUS?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby fanourıo » Fri Mar 09, 2007 6:28 pm

It is not the issue, a power cut is a power cut it was not the end of the world, and it gave a bit of a romantic atmosphere to TC families, LOL, but the issue of property prices in the event of a solution, is there. All I am trying to say is that people that DO have properties in the North, like Papadopoullos, do not wish such a unification in contradiction with most people in the forum that DO wish for a solution!>

An example; on Christmas Day 2006, when many 'resident foreign' families were celebrating Christmas with traditional Christmas Lunches, the Electricity Authorites decided it was a great day to turn off the power to several locations, for routine maintenance. Now I appreciate that it is not a Christian country, but the Authorities must have realised the disruption they would cause to many people who had invested large suns of money in the north, by buying property there.

A TC was telling me that when the generator arrived at Famagusta they had to send it back because they didn't have a crane large/powerful enough to lift it! Is that true?? :)

Actually it arrived at Famagusta because there was no way of getting it off the ship at Kyrnia port so it went to Famagusta and got transported via a massive special truck that came along with the generators. I'm not sure about the crane issue but it would n't surprise me for the simple fact that as a commercial port the cranes are normaly used to move small (compared to the generator) 40 foot containers.
