There is not a single person on this forum, including me that does not agree with the sentiments of your statement (laid out to look like a bad poem). I would be more than willing to have those sentiments as my motto but you left out the bit about the on going conflict and how much has to change before we can even try to approach that. Are you saying that the RoC has created the perfect world that allows us to drop every thing we expect and want. Is there room for improvement. Do you think that LOVE is the only remedy or have we a right to demand better conditions. What I want you to do is to stop your spin and fight for our rights to secure a lasting peace not a tentative one because that is exactly what you’re asking for. You acknowledge the difficulties and then dismiss them. Acknowledge and dismiss. The pattern is always the same. You want an end result without the bit in the middle and you as a TC try to sell us TPap as our leader. That is my disappointment. Acknowledge and dismiss.
I would be too happy to fight for our rights to secure a lasting peace,Zan,but I don't believe we can achieve a "lasting peace" if we only fight for "our" rights.
For a peace to be lasting we need to fight for everybody's rights, including the rights of the GC refugees to return to their homes and/or be given fair compensation. We need to fight for the right of those families with missing persons,to make sure they have suitable closure and compensation for their loss.We need to fight for the rights of all those cypriots who had to go into exile to escape the evil that Cyprus had become.
We need to fight for the right of the majority of Cypriots (aka GCs) to feel safe and comfortable and relaxed in their own country, and the right of the TCs to do the same.We need to fight for the corruption and the illegality and the human rights abuses wherever they might happen. We need to fight
the decline in moral values which makes it increasingly acceptable to live in the shadow of gambling, prostitution, drug running, and other related social calamities. And we need to fight the mentality which says "what has been won through bloodshed cannot be given at the negotiating table"...If you want to fight these fights, you will find me right beside you.
