I want to especially thank Zan, mrfromng, Piratis, andri_cy, Natty, Snad and Kikapu for their good wishes. All the best...
Now lets spice things up a little . I have a question to the GCs:
Back in the 50s, 60s, 70s and perhaps in the 80s, the GC community was a fervent supporter of ENOSIS which lead the island into chaos and misery. How does the GC community look back to the lethal aspirations of ENOSIS; and does it still have supporters today?
I must have been sleeping for the last few days, to have missed this thread.
Murataga, I'm so happy you have pulled through your worse worries that you left us with, few months ago. You appear to be a "success story" amongst us Cypriots, who had wished you speedy recovery.
I have just read the whole tread, so that I know where everyone is coming from. I'm sure Enosis was the inspiration of many Greek Cypriots at some point. The question is, does that "point" still exists today, or even in the last 25 years. I'm not a GC, so I can only accept the views of GC's, that their answer is a resounding NO. As one member said, it was the Greek Junta that tried to enforce ENOSIS and not the GC's themselves. Could it be, that the Greek Junta in Greece needed a "victory" in Cyprus to keep their jobs in Greece, just like the Military Junta of Argentina in 1982, during the Falkland island invasion, that brought about their defeat against the British.
I have told this phrase before, and I think it needs repeating.
"I do not like History, because it has no Future in it".
Don't you all think, we have had enough of HISTORY and it is time to look to the FUTURE.
Indeed it is time to look to the future Kikapu , as for ENOSIS , as a young boy I supported the liberation struggle with the ultimate goal of ENOSIS.
I joined in demonstrations and demanded ENOSIS.
I would be the first today to join the struggle against any movement for ENOSIS , but it is dead and buried and good riddance to it too!
