Good afternoon Devil,
Thank you very much for your replies.
I have one more question if I may asks:
In one of your replies you wrote about the prices of things in Switzerland and I would like to know if these things costs a lot less in Cyprus?
Kind regards,
Roy

Jawohl, bien sûr que oui.

Typical prices/kg, except where stated:
Beef, best fillet, £9-11
Beef, Rumpsteak, £3-4
Pork, roast with bone, £1-3
Pork, roast, prepared, without bone, £2-3
Pork, filet mignon, £3
Veggies (according to season)
Salad lettuce £0.15-0.20
Iceberg £0.60-0.90
Radish, spring onion, parsley, coriander etc per bunch £0.15-0.20
Local ordinary fruit in season £0.20-£1.00 (sometimes higher for top quality)
Courgette, aubergine, green peppers, carrots cauliflower etc. in season £0.30-0.75
(NB, fruit and veggies needing much manpower to pick or process, e,g, cherries, peas etc., are more expensive)
Potatoes £0.25-0.50
Mushrooms £2-2.90
Bread (village) £0.35-0.60
Milk (full or reduced fat) £0.65
Cheese (local or factory imported) £3-10
Cheese (Swiss or French) £10-15 (e.g., Emmi Gruyère or Emmenthal, Bleu de Bresse, Brie, Camembert etc.)
Ham: unobtainable (factory made reconstituted "ham" rubbish, saturated in water, £3-5)
Pasta (local) from £0.35/pack 500 g
Rice from £0.80/kg

Generally speaking, local food is reasonable but imported stuff is often exorbitant. Local prepared food is often of poorer quality (e.g., frozen pizzas will have a thick crust, not much poor quality cheese and minimal garnishing: the cheese is never a good mozarella, but sometimes a Danish pseudo-mozarella which is nothing like the real stuff or a local cheese).

Be prepared for a culture shock in restaurants, especially in tourist areas (soggy pommes frites with everything, meat overcooked etc.) Restaurant meals for two with a bottle of wine can be anything from about £15 upwards (salad with tahini and olives, main course, Cyprus coffee offered).

Hope that helps.

I am a software engineer who lives in Switzerland. I live in the German part in a lovely town called Luzern and I am working in Zuerich. My wife has learned hotel management and she is working in a hotel in the city.

We got married in Cyprus and honestly we loved this beatiful country. Since then (August 2006) I thought about moving to Cyprus (greek part) and try to settle down there. In www.grsrecruitment.com I saw advertisements about IT jobs and help in relocation if needed.

My questions are:
1. Have any of you done this process (relocation) and can shed some light on it?
2. What is the average salary for software engineer?
3. From your knowledge, does Cyprus is investing in the IT field or most of the funds goes back and fourth in the tourism?

Kind regards,
Roy

Correct me if im wrong but i never knew that Cyprus is divided into Greek part and anything else ?

It all belongs to Cypriots does it not ?

Whether you are right or wrong is not material. You know damn well what he (a foreigner) means and you are being deliberately obtuse by trying to introduce a polemic into a civilised conversation. Shame on you! :(
