Many here in Pissouri with 2.7m dishes have lost Channel 4

It seems only the most perfectly aligned dish and sensitive LNB will get it (or get a bigger dish).

As i have already pointed out, this channel 4 problem seems to be a mystery to me cos i have not noticed this signal loss on any of my installations..(i have over sixty 4.2m prime focus dish installations here in the north)
I also use 1.8m offsets and even this dish hasn't suffered any loss..
1.8m offset is not large enough for 24hr reception but picks up channel 4 most of the day (only looses this channel between 1-4pm)

From what my sat engineer friends from Limassol tell me this problem is only affecting prime focus dishes not the offsets..What type is your dish?

I have a 2.7m prime focus – I’ve never seen an offset dish used for Sky around here (I use offset dishes for my broadband business).

Can anybody tell me, when 1.8 4.2 etc dishes are mentioned. do they the diameter or the width. because a dish that's 4.2 wide would up all the room in my garden

There are two types of satellite dishes...Offset and Prime focus.
Offset dish sizes indicate the distance between two widest points when measured horizontally..
Prime focus dish sizes indicate the diameter of the dish..

That depends on what satellite you want to receive and the size of dish required for that specific satellite...Prime focus dishes smaller than 1.5m-2m have the disadvantage of the LNB blocking some of the incoming signal..Offset dish doesn't have this disadvantage because of its design..
To sum it up,if you require a dish size over 2m then a prime focus is better..
