A wondeful day. Mainland Turkey was very clear this morning when I got up, and I can still see their outline quite clearly. It seems to me that there is not as much snow on the mountains as in earlier years. Global warming?
Now no comments about not wanting to see Turkey please. This threads too nice
You can actually see it pretty clearly from the north then? Where are you in the north?
Sorry, missed this one.
In the winter/spring you can frequently see Turkey at the beginning of the day, sometimes quite clearly, other times just as a hazy shape. It disappears later in the day as the haze builds us (water vapour over the sea?). Because of the mountains close to the Turkish shore you can see their tops from the Cyprus shoreline. I live higher up on the Kyrenia Mountains so get a slightly better view.
Wednesday's clear sky was quite exceptional, and driving back from Nicosia later in the day, just after sunset, sky still pink and orange, sea without a wave on it, Turkish mountains in silhouette - really beautiful.
I'm told that you can see Syria from Kantara on a really clear day, though never seen it myself. If true, I expect you could have seen it on Wednesday.
Today, a normal day for visibility. Though the sun is shining (nice) I can only just make out the shape of Turkey at 1.40 pm local.
