Sorry but you're about 15 years out of date, Paralimni and especially the Kapparis area is a "Little Britain".
I lived there for 14 years and saw it change beyond recognition especiallyin the last 4 years, I'm English and proud of it but there are people in that area that I wouldn't mix with in the UK and won't mix with here. I'm not alone as many of the long term Brits that live there are pissed off with the way it's changed.
I now live in Nicosia and love it, it's more Greek (although more people speak better English than in the tourist areas) and much more civilised than on the coast where everybody is trying to make a quick £.
As for how the Cypriots feel, I've had 2 punch ups in 15 years with Cypriots who very anti British and showed it a bit too much but I had more in the 15 years before with dick heads in the UK.
My advice is don't expect more from Cypriots than you would from anybody else, don't give crap but don't take it and you can have a good life here.
