I don't think Miltiades was arguing, just making a point about a man who, whether he was a friend or an enemy was a man of honour is still respected in Cyprus - as opposed to the anonymous suicide bombers now, so no offence taken on my part. I've read an awful lot about that period of time and suffice to say I understand the situation in Cyprus in the 50's a lot better now.

Also, great post Rotate - you've really hit the nail on the head about how we feel and what we're looking for. Kakopetria is my current favourite, but we have lots of exploring to do yet!

With all respect I don't think that was what he was saying. I thought (and correct me if I'm wrong G. Man) what he meant was that history is dictated by the winner - history actually means "his story" (i.e. its a version of what really happened), and he was using that as a metaphor, and not literally.

I'm sure no-one here really believes Cypriot freedom fighters were like Hitler. Trouble with message boards is that its so easy to be misinterpreted.

By the way, is Queenslander an Aussie reference? in which case, we'll have you in the World Cup!!

Never doubted it Miltiades. It is you that is constantly trying to oust me from my nationality. Get rid of all the other shit that the RoC is throwing at us including trying to rename our helim that I have been eating all my life and you will have a lot more.
