The Arab world is reportedly preparing for recognizing The TRNC

Turkish Cypriot daily VATAN newspaper (04.03.07) reports that a Russian website named Regnum, known for its proximity to the Armenian positions, has argued that the Arab world is preparing to recognize the TRNC, in North Cyprus.

Invoking a source who is expert on the Middle East politics, the above-mentioned site argued that the Arab countries will recognize The TRNC in March. It is also alleged that the American Foreign Secretariat is evaluating the recognition of the TRNC within the second half of this year.

The "Arab world" you mention doesn't clarify if it refers to OPEC, the Arab League, or anything else, but do keep in mind that much of the Arab/Muslim world has a profound respect for the RoC for they have been...

1. Staunch supporters of the Palestinian plight (Extremely important to Arabs/Muslims).

2. A safe refuge for Lebanese refugees during 4 separate wars.

3. A strong trading partner of all Mediterranean Arab/Muslim countries

4. Extremely helpful to "other" Arab/Muslim causes. (this I won't discuss here :) )

5. A safe neutral ground where Arabs/Muslims meet the West.

Turkey on the other hand has a very poor standing with her Muslim "brothers", something made even worse in the last year or two with Turkey's closer ties to Israel; the Arab/Muslim's major enemy.

I am afraid it is true and correct, the recent behaviour of the EU is a way towards formal recognition of the trnc, hoever what the jokers who run the EU have not realised is that they are creating another Israel/ Palestine situation. I am actully of the view that we do need to end this saga and perhaps the best way to is partition. Having said that I would like the clause to read. "I told you so. Turkey never had the interests of turkish speaking Cypriots".

Don't be so bloody defeatist man , the EU is not run by a bunch of idiots .
They will never recognise the de facto state , it takes more than 40 thousand troops to create a legal state above all it takes democratic means not dictatorial ones.
The T/Cs are not ready yet to capitulate to their Anatolian relative. They are Cypriots above all and they want to remain as such , but the RoC needs to tell them that .

The day is getting closer, with every dumb action from Greek Cyprus the TRNC grows stronger.

The EU is fed up listening to your politicians moaning and winging ALL the time, as if the only problem in the world is the CyProb, well it isn’t!!!

humanist is 100% correct when he says “I told you so” who will you blame then?
