I am sure your mother would need to pay for here pills..
but make sure you bring your NHS cards for free health cover..
Its also good to get private while you are here though..

If she has the NHS card for free prescriptions in UK, she can get the same in Cyprus.

I believe you have to go to the General Hospital in your location in Cyprus each time you need a prescription.

My mother has been waiting for nearly 4 months for the paperwork to go through. She is a pensioner who can get free prescriptions here...yet....is having to pay for them until the Cypriot health service finally realises that Cyprus is in the EU. Thankfully she has private health as well. Private health care, I would say, is a necessity here.

Which part of Cyprus, Twinkle?

Friends here in Limassol got their paperwork very quickly just on production of the NHS exemption card.

I'm in Larnaca. She has retired but moved here over 10 years ago and wasn't getting any treatment in the UK since then.

Twinkle,

Maybe Larnaca hasn't quite caught up with fact that ex-pats are making their way here to stay permanently. Paphos seems to be more on the ball, with Limassol coming a close second but that could be because these are the areas where most Brits started to settle in the early days.

Hopefully, the legislation (and the paperwork) will make it to the Eastern side very soon.

Can anyone advice on the best private health care package to go for in Southern cyprus. At the moment we pay £200 per month in the UK for 2 adults & 2 kids.

I use Atlantic Insurance and pay around £480pa; much depends upon the level of cover and age.
