are we talking hypothetical here or a true event?

because it would have been a conflict of interest preciding over a case where you are the judge, and an eyewitness to your own family's horrible event.

but if its hypothetical, then i don't think you would be able to control your emotions, after witnessing it, you would be raging inside and you would give the max you are allowed under the law.

I would kill him on the spot! No judge and crap like that. And I think you can not be the judge when you are personally involved with a crime anyways.

I see no difference if you are the judge or not. it depends if the judge is just or not. And if you are the judge you should give the same penalty even she is not you mother, sister or wife.

Silly question, as a judge you would be bound to uphold the law, and as a judge, you would consider the maximum penalty of the law...

So the question is not answerable without knowing what the law of the country is in which you are judge.

Death penalty is severe... but some counries impose it i believe...

we seldom use the death penalty....and it's got to be very bad to use it.

I think that is the point of law GG. A "crime of passion", or a premeditated one. The judge could be found guilty of murder even though he says he did not know what he was doing at the time because he IS a judge and should have known better.
