I think you're all trying to discredit him with your accusations but if you dont like what he has to say then just dont reply to his posts or ignore him..its not that difficult.

When Joanna was going off on one hardly any of you batted an eyelid, no one said anything about her hating of the Turkish people and she went to extremes with her hate. I dont think VP hates GC people, I just dont think he would feel comfortable living amongst them. Theres people on here who blatantly hate Turkish people and who judge all of them in the same light in worse ways then VP does the GCs but no one seems to be fazed by this at all. If you don't like Turkey being in Cyprus fine, but this doesn't mean that you can hate every single Turk because of it, and if thats fine then I dont really see the problem in VPs view either. It gets boring because everytime he says something then you all mock him and provoke him, then the whole topic changes direction and we get nowhere.

If I was trying to have my say and people were trying to discredit me I would become just as stubborn as VP gets sometimes.

First he was multiple people, then he was something else and now he's a Turkiyeli...

ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz.............boring!

T_C,

You make great points. Now as a Turkish Cypriot, I do not want to shut VP up, or anyone else for that matter. Yes, I've had issues with him at times, as well as Sotos, Piratis, Miltiades, Kifeas, Zan, mrfromng, and few other "heavy hitters", but at the end of the day, we all come back, and talk to each other again. But in order to really understand where one's point of view is coming from, one olso needs to know, where the person is from, and whether or not prejudice is playing part, in the conversation. I can respect every ones views, and just because I do not agree with them, does not change anything. They too have the same option, as me.

ON another matter T_C. You mentioned last week, that you will be returning to Cyprus this summer to do your military service.

Do you know, who is training you.?

Is it the "TRNC" or the Turkish Army, and how long is the training.?

You want home truths?

I will be honest and say that this attack and the one that has been going on for a while is a premeditated one between a group of people that are talking to one another of Forum.

I'm 51 and if I return to Cyprus and to the "TRNC", I'm still expected to do my military service, or ¨pay about £4,000 British Pounds, to get out of it.

Well, just like you, I was intending to pay half the amount and serve for a month , but the latest version from the official "TRNC" is, that since I have gone past the age of 49, which was the latest one can put of doing their military service, I may be refused an exit visa, and be forced to do the military service right there and then. They said, it all depends, who is in the office that day. There was also talk of doing away with the military service, for those over 49 years old.

I hope this bill passes, before next month.

They let my brother out without too much fuss Kikapu and he is 56. They did give him a time limit as to when he should return but he is also very ill so he now only has to produce a doctors certificate. I hope you can speak very good Turkish because that will help you so much when filling in forms and what have you. IT will also take an age so be patient.

I'm sure no where in the world, that anyone is expected to do a military service at 51, or 56, and what is the max anyway, 70.? I find this most irritating to be honest. I'm sure there are thousands of Cypriots and their children born abroad, who will not return to the "TRNC", because of this situation.

I think it is only about the money. I can assure the "TRNC", that if there was no military service for those living abroad, they will return each year for their holidays, to spend money, which will be many folds over than, the £4,000 pounds, which will be a major boost to their economy.

My brother was told that there is no age limit...AT ALL....

Of course it is for the money and I don't really blame them for that and you are right about the tourists. This is the new thinking that the TRNC are supposed to be adopting. They want tourists like you to go so they are relaxing things to, you are allowed to go for up to ninety days with no limits as to how many times>>>>>I think.

Youre right Zan. I had the same option but I stayed for 3 and a half months when I was 14 so I lost out on that chance. Now I have to pay and still do it for a month or two  . I hadnt been back to Cyprus for 5 years almost and last year my aunt managed to sort something out with people she knew who worked for the army so I was able to go the one time without problem. I'm sick of not being able to go though so I'm going to go do it this year and get it over with.
