Travelling from Protaras

Postby sid78 » Fri Mar 02, 2007 4:57 pm

Can anyone tell me how long it would take to travel from Protaras to Esentepe by car? Would there be any problems crossing the boarder with UK passports???

Also does anyone know of any Golf courses on the East of the Island?

Thanks

Hello,
The best way from Protoras to esentepe is you have to go to paralimni first and how you can get to derynia . its not very far. this is the UK controled area . Ask someone and they will direct you but if you ask GCs about you going north they might tell you different stories. when you get DERINYA you will find a uk checkpoint . in UK bases drive slow because SBA police is same like british police. (i got 2 times penalty). Then you pass the north and you have to drive towards Lefkosa (nicosia) . you should just drive straight and after 30 miles you will arrive big roundabout and turn right to go to Kyrenia . when you get Kyrenia you should turn right and go stright . 18 hole Golf course is in esentepe. Anyone you will as in north cyprus they will direct you and you will not have any problem to cross the northern side with any passport. You can also stay there up to 3 months. make sure when you coming back you dont have too much cigarette and alcohol staff because you will definetly get searched with GC police. Also be carefull you dont bring Some villa papers in GC side because GC police upset about it. But legally you can travel in whole cyprus freely. Have a nice trip

Derynia will take you 20 minutes if people on the way is helpfull . and famgusta to nicosia another 40 minutes nicosia to kyrenia 15 minutes and kyrenia to esntepe about 15 minutes . total 90 min.Dont forget the visit Ballapais because you will be amazed how nice place it is but choose the restaurant which is just next to manastir which have the full view of kyrenia ( i forgot the name) but see which one have the best view. Also if you wanna stay in hotel there Acapulco it is very nice and good for value , close to esentepe and has the sandy beech which very rare in kyrenia. As much as i heard the golfing is cheaper then others. You can also visit Kyrenia Harbour which is beutyfull. Dont play a lot in casino a lot because gambling is not good but you can put in your pocket £50 and play a bit and enjoy the free food , alcohol and stuff  .
If you need any kindof help about north -south cyprus or other countrys i can help you because i been everywhere in cyprus and many countrys in the world just email me [email protected] and i m happy to help.
You have to pay £5 insurance as well when you passing other side which covers you 20 days ( try to bargain the price). also if you planning to stay in the north cyprus in hotel you can always try to reduce the price.(if you ask me i can help you with this as well)

If you are hiring a car be aware that you can't usually take hire cars from the south to the north.

They always say that but its not correct as long as you pay the £5 insurance on the door. Companys always tell that if their car anything happen in north cyprus the isurance is not valid. Because many GC s they dont want you go to north cyprus sometime car rental companys say this. But trust me i pass may be 20 times with the GC rental car. Petsas is the best car rental in GC and if you call Nicosia office the manager Micheal can explain you further. As long as you took the insurance you will not have any problem.
