Gav thank you very much, ...... but I tell it how I see it, ..... so no political party from either side will have me :). As it stands I think that neither Papadopoulos or Talat are doing enough for Cypriots and bringing our people together. They could do a lot more. I have recently posted on what the RoC can do to support Cyriots living in the north access their properties in the south, hopefully the trnc leadership will follow suit. the fact that the RoC has not changed the national anthem to be inclussive of all cypriot citizens is an indication that it is not ready to move forward. The fact that Mr Talat in his media releases does not speak of unification is an indication that his motive is partition. I once had respect for him around his decison to knock the Ledra street bridge. However his recent threats for war, lost him my support. Whilst both Mr Talat and Mr papadopoulos are driving around in their mercedes and live in their luxury homes alot of people they are supposed to be representing are living in poverty and in violation of their human rights and both are doing litttle to change that. Shame on both of them for not taking lead in meeting the July 8th agreement.

My advise would be to inform the authorities as soon as possible.... but try video recording some of the abuse first, to cover yourself. The police and authorites in Cyprus only act if there is some evidence and they are forced to deal with it....it might expose their failures too.

It's true that it's not as frowned upon to smack your child in Cyprus as a form of discipline, but not to beat up the child...That's definitely not part of the Cypriot culture... :(

I got upset seeing a mother smack her child once when he was misbehaving, so I can only imagine how upsetting it must be for yourself and your wife to watch this poor child gets smacked continuously...

I think you should do whatever you think is right, keep a look out and if you think it looks like abuse, report it...

hi johnson & johnson

i too agree with natty and drinkstar- families are not perfect here- the same as everywhere, and yes the kids can get unruly and spoilt, and need discipline -
However, I am a firm believer that very few kids need to get smacked badly to be disciplined, and DEFINITELY not the kind of treatment you are explaining.

The other a very, very nasty piece of work whacked our 5 month adorable puppy really hard with her box handbag because he was following her- i was devastated- animals dont deserve to be treated like that and certainly not kids.
It makes my blood boil when you think of all the people who desperately wanta family and cant have them!!!!!
Excellent idea to try and tape any events if its recorded on paper.
You wouldn,t sleep at night if anything serious happened to this kid.
will try and make some enquiries.
Best of luck.
