dont involve Nelson Mandela in Cyprus case, he is a peacemaker so he may be dangerous

If Nelson Mandela was Greek, the Turks would call him a terrorist.

There's an old wife's tale going around about the French being cowards or something like that most likely due to some events that occurred in WWII. The France of today is no comparison to the France of the 1940's and militarily they have plenty to boast...

1. The French Legionnaires (World's best special force)

2. The French Air force (Technically the worlds finest)

3. Mirage fighter jets (See comparisons with US and Russian jets)

4. "Mistral" surface to air technology (Hello... anybody home?)

5. The French Nuclear and space programs are years ahead of the UKs!

If you have the time look them up on the net... the absolute BEST!

Regards, GR.

France is Europe's military powerhouse ahead of both the UK and Germany. Cyprus' decision to get closer to France is militarily and strategically (geopolitically) an exceptional maneuver!

I am pleasantly surprised that the RoC has made such a brilliant move, I never expected this much genius from them, so I guess my many electronic "briefings" to TP haven't gone by unnoticed! :)

French defence minister, Michele Alliot-Marie said, “it is a standard agreement which we have with many other countries, but did not have with Cyprus”.

Comment. A lot of fuss over nothing. They have a more significant agreement with Turkey called NATO.

From a strategic point of view this agreement is a plus for the RoC especially at a time that Turkey issued quite serious threats in relation to the oil issue.

However, this is another example of where things can lead us in the absence of a solution to the problem. Both communities have a lot to lose from the current situation of the Cyprob and at the same time A LOT to win from a potential solution that will unify the island.

Just think of the past month or so:

- The oil issue

- The turkish threats

- The direct trade issue

- The missing people issue

- The issue of movement of lifestock goods (including meat products) across the green line with Talat imposing controls and the TCs complaining about the policy.

- and now the halloumi/helim patent issue
