More information from AFRIKA on the bathroom massacre incident.
Turkish Cypriot daily AFRIKA newspaper (28.02.07) reports in its first page that there is new information on the issue of the bathroom massacre incident. (TR. Note: The incident took place in 1963, where a Turkish Cypriot family was found dead in the bathroom of its house. The Turkish Cypriot side supports that the family was killed by Greek Cypriot guerrillas). AFRIKAs columnist Sener Levent reports, inter alia, in his daily Column Point of View that there is the need to clarify this issue. Mr Levent goes on and writes that the paper received two more pieces of information on this issue yesterday: The first one is related to Hasan Kudum who was hurt during the bathroom massacre incident but he did not lose his life. Asked by his friends if those who came to kill them spoke between them Greek or Turkish, Hasan Kudum stated: There were persons who spoke Greek and there were persons who spoke Turkish. The second information is related to a person who was known under the name Bozkurt (Grey wolf) and later it was found out that his real name was Kenan Coskun. Nihat Ilhan, whose wife and three children were killed in the incident, went to Kenan Coskun and asked him: Has the organisation killed my family in order to secure the intervention of Turkey in the island?. The answer given by Kenan Coskun and bothered Nihat Ilhan was the following: Go and take revenge. He did not tell him from where to take revenge, writes Sener Levent.

Innocent victims were killed from both sides during the intercommunal conflict. GCs killed TCs, TCs killed GCs, but also GCs killed GCs and TCs killed TCs. There are numerous examples of all 4 cases.

If we look at the big picture instead of the tree though, you will see that this conflict was fueled and directed behind the scenes by those that had interest in such conflict, those that wanted Cypriots divided in order to serve their own plans.

Imagine a Cyprus without that conflict and Cypriots united. That would mean no British bases and no Turkish military in Cyprus. Obviously the conflict suited the world and regional powers perfectly.

Unfortunately those still serving the foreign interests in Cyprus (because they believe that their interests are also served in that way) continue to use such incident as lame excuses for the violation of the human rights of 100s of thousands of people for whole decades.

I can't imagine, if this massacre was "staged" by either the GC's or TC's, that anyone would have been left alive to tell their story to anyone, such as Hasan Kudum, and this comes out after 44 years.

I dont believe that I'm afraid, I've even read articles (on macedoniaontheweb) claiming that Nihat Ilhan killed his own family in a state of insanity and Denktas and the TMT placed the bodies in the bath and said something like "These bodies will be usefull to us, through them the whole world will see..."

but again we just don't know who to believe unless you get these assholes in court and question them. otherwise the victims are just been used as propaganda tools, and this is the sad part.

all it does it just cheapens human lives, and there is no respect to the murdered victims.

An eye witness is still alive and lives in the same area, she was hidding behind the bathroom door and saw the whole thing.

Actually all the ones in the bathroom were killed, I think the lady VP is talking about was the lady hiding in the toilet but she was also killed with a pistol to her head. The survivor is male as far as I know...
