I for one endorse the views held - particularly that of being Cypriot first and of Greek or Turkish descent second.
I know its none of my business, I'm only a Brit who has visited Cyprus on many occasions and would one day love to make it my home, but its so sad to see what has happened to such a beautiful island.
I'm fully aware of my country's role in Cyprus history and its not something I'm proud of.
Nor can I offer solutions. I've read so many books from all sides of the argument and the more I learn the more I see how hard it will be to reach a solution that will satisfy everyone.
Much compromise is needed, but Cypriots are proud people (both TC and GC), but I wish that instead of looking for differences that more emphasis was placed on what both communities have in common, which, when you study it, is quite a lot.
Recommend Echoes from the Dead Zone as propbably the most balanced read.
Apologies for sticking my nose in - I know its nothing to do with me - but I genuinely wish for a true, peaceful, united Cyprus in my lifetime. Good luck to all
Kind regards,
Richie
