Car Tax - did you remember?

Postby skyvet » Thu Mar 01, 2007 9:58 am

I taxed our car yesterday at the Bank of Cyprus (very easy). According to the newspapers etc, yesterday was the last day to tax your car before the police would start prosecutions for those not complying.
The bank clerk told me that the amnesty has been extended until the 9th March, but that this date WILL be the cut-off point.
Incidentally, I didn't mind one bit parting with £34cy for a whole years road tax ........ UK - why do you charge so much?!!

skyvet thans for the reminding.

I had to pay the road tax for two cars and I've paid in both ways through the bank and online, just to satisfy my curiosity.

In the bank of Cyprus I've got the same printed sticker like I've got online. Just a clerk took money that was only difference. :)

I have seen a couple of Toyota Prius here in Cyprus and saw my first Honda Civic Hybrid, last week. I wonder about the cost effectiveness of such vehicles in Cyprus. I imagine they are reasonably expensive to buy, even with their small engines - but what of the servicing costs?

More importantly, how many mechanics in Cyprus have been trained to service or repair a hybrid - and what will be the availability of parts.

I imagine my regularly serviced, large engine cars are less environmentaly harmful than many of the wheezing doublecabs we have here in Paphos :-)

To reduce my carbon footprint, I promise never to burn my toast again :-)
