More importantly, how many mechanics in Cyprus have been trained to service or repair a hybrid - and what will be the availability of parts.

I imagine my regularly serviced, large engine cars are less environmentaly harmful than many of the wheezing doublecabs we have here in Paphos :-)

Toyota Prius - not as environmentally friendly as you might think

Never mind about hybrids, just getting an efficient turbo diesel will lower your carbon emissions substantially compared to what you have now..

Just because others drive smokey horrible polluting cars, does that stop anyone else from doing their bit?

A bit of intertia and peer pressure is all it needs before we start setting things straight

Look on the bright side Lana, the road tax goes down considerably when one reaches the age of 63.

have a customoised 2999 cc 1982 Porsche 911 that I want to bring into cyprus when we move over to Cyprus in September. Can anyone advice as to how much tax my 27 year car will attract. In addition we have a 3 year old 206cc. Any help would be asppreciated.

you need to apply for a classic import when it gets here, thats for cars over 25 years old, if granted, and thats likely, you shouldnt pay anything of any significance

:D

PS. If you have owned the car for over 6 months, have insurance for the last 6 months, and are relocating permanently, then you can import it free of duty as well.

Thanks for that.

They wont allow the porsche in as a classic as it has been customised. I therefore assume that it has to come in as a normal 27 year old car?

Further to my last message. I am relocating with my family, but intend to work as well. Does that affect the duty on my car.
