You must be joking: have you ever tried to render a divx into MPEG-2? It takes many hours (typically 8 times real time on a powerful computer) and the re-encoding looks awful.

Actually, I have done it many times, but then I have an FX60 (dual core 64bit) with 2gb of ram..

If you have a decent DVD player it will play on it anyway

BTW you can do it in real time by connecting the video out on the PC to a DVD recorder...

Quality is not quite as good, but the quality will never be as bad as digital tv, which uses a higher compression MPEG4 codec and lower resolution
