Tassos's strategy on Cyprus...

Postby Saint Jimmy » Mon Jan 10, 2005 2:42 am

This guy has been on Tassos's case since forever. Sometimes I get a feeling like he's made a point to cause a friggin' revolution in Cyprus, to overthrow him. It's obvious to me that he hates Tassos's politics, especially his strategy in the Cyprus problem. All that may be true.

Now, I consider myself too 'small' to be able to form a definite opinion on whether he's right to hate it or not, as well as whether to agree with Tassos's strategy or not. Nonetheless, I find that the guy (Makarios Drousiotis - GC journalist and writer) has a very persuasive way of presenting his arguments. Plus, for the most part, he says what I'm trying to say, only much, much better.

Check this article out and let me know what you think, please.

Thanks.

Apologies to TCs in here, this guy does translate his articles to english, but, seeing as how it's his most recent one, apparently he hasn't come around to doing this one yet. I'll try to post the link here as soon as he does.

If the members who don't know Greek wish to get an idea about the content of the article written by M. Drusoutis, click the link below for an automatic web-tarnslation in English.

The article appeared in "Politis" on Sunday and it is a very informative article by a very good journalist/investigator. The translation of course makes a mockery of translations and just to get an idea about these automatic translations and their limitations, it actually translated the name of the journalist, that is, Makarios into blissful! Makarios Droushiotis is an outspoken critic of our President and it has nothing to do with hate. Droushiotis, being a good historian, always substantiates his arguments with serious and solid evidence. Droushiotis, hails originally from AKEL, but he cut the umbilical cord from the stalinist party and ever since then he has really flown. He is one of the most creditable analysist on the plantation.

I watched carefully many articles and studies of Makarios Drousiotis. He always starts from facts. That's the good part. Then he links the facts based on totally personal hypotheses. And he finally presents a scenario so fascinating and surprising that carries away the reader. He then adds some more facts and does the same process again. The result? More or less a conspiracy theory.

I remember the last article of his that really shocked me was the case of the Russian Veto at the UN prior to the Referendum.
Makarios Drousiotis concluded that the Russians did not veto to satisfy the RoC but to satisfy the Turkish Government !!!!

Mic, he didn't conclude that! He wrote that the Russian Ambassador in Turkey said last August that 'the Russian veto was an indirect wish of Turkey, too'...

And who are the others that want to overthrow our democratically elected president? The Americans, the British, and the Turks.

The Americans always work with the assistance of some insiders to achieve their aim. For example the traitors of EOKA B were so idiots that they believed that overthrowing our democratically elected president was the right thing to do (and the checks from the US eliminated any doubts).

Some other traitors today are doing the same thing. We made a mistake that we let those people in 1974 to give the excuse to Turkey to invade us. We should not do the same mistake again.

People that go against democracy and are trying to undermine what we democratically elected to do should be treated in the way that such traitors should be treated. I hope we have learned from our mistakes and this time we will not let a small minority of idiots to help the Americans the British and the Turks to finish off the crime they started in 74.

Well, bro, his reasoning was that Turkey, at the time, did not need the turmoil that would have been created, had the A plan been accepted (you know, the political opposition shouting at how Erdogan 'sold off' Cyprus). The best alternative for Turkey would have been to get off the hook for the Cyprus thing, on the one hand, and to maintain the status quo in the island, on the other. The only way they could have achieved that would be if Turkey and TCs said 'yes' and GCs said 'no'. Therefore, a Russian veto in the SG = no guarantees from Security Council = GCs vote 'no'!
