You can run for the presidency if you are a Cyprus citizen and you meet some other basic requirements (e.g. having a clean record)

About "choosing sides" I perfectly understand what you say. Those that wrote the 1960 constitution and now they wanted to "upgrade" it to Annan plan, had only division and separation in their mind because thats what suits them.

However permanent peace can come only if we leave all those things behind and the solution is the one that will make all Cypriot citizens equal regardless of their religion, ethnic background or anything else. Then there will be only one side, the Cypriot side, serving the interests of the Cypriot people, without racist discriminations and conflicting groups serving separate interests.

With that special way you have of explaining things, I don't see why couldn't be the next president.

So basically when you are half Muslim half Christian you marry somebody that is also half Muslim half Christian? ;) Vasiliou speaks like 7 languages. But he had many other things. Like very high education and he was successful already. He also had the support of AKEL but thats a minor thing ;) What do you have except from an exciting family background?
