Why Is Oil Exploration By The RoC Provocative?

Postby humanist » Tue Feb 27, 2007 10:25 pm

Cyprus is an independent sovereign coutry that has every right to explore anything within its waters. Why is Turkey making such a big deal with that. Is that that there is envy and jealousy that no matter how hard Turkey tries, The RoC just succeeds. If Turkey is concerned for the welfare of Turkish Cypriots then Turkey will remove it 35000 troops and make moves towards bizonal/ bicommunal federation of two states under a federal government.

all i know karma is that, the internet media of late have brough to light that turkish cypriots have been suffering from 32 year turkish oppression, as much as they like to blame the RoC and Greek Speaking Cypriots their biggest oppressor has been turkey and the turkish army. there are turkish speaking cypriots on this forum who would agree with this. :) so this is not greek speaking cypriot having a go. and thank God for the oil issue for it is showing turkey up to be the bully that it is. :)

According to reports I have heard, RoC is likely to sign an Oil deal with the US, so Turkey may not have much support from the US if they start getting too ancy

G.Man, haven't they already signed an oil deal :) I thought that went ahead. Turkey is really making a poor self representation among the EU and the US, she stuff herself up very soon am sure.

Because Turkey is afraid that its colonials in the north will take to the Wu Tang Clan's CREAM ideology ( Cash.Rules.Everything.Around.Me) and not have so many high ransom demands for the occupied areas they squat in.

Seriously, money rules the world - if Cyprus is in for the windfall that has been projected and become any kind of significant player in crude oil...then its only natural TCs will want a peice of this and make a fair and democratic reunification easier.

snake, that is probably very true, however it would be nice to reach that point before the oil comes out of the ocean.

Only because of the US bases... maybe RoC should offer the US some bases in the north in return for help with the Cyprus problem...
