hi everyone,

hope u can help - i am trying to find out whether it is possible (i know that everyting is possible... ) to live in limassol and work in nicosia, and travel everyday to work? what i mean is, do u do that, or do u know anyone who does it?
if so, how much time does it take and how much does it cost? is there any other way apart from driving? (eg. can u take a bus???...i doubt it)
sorry if these are stupid questions... would be great to get a reply though

Yes, some do it, but it is a killing regime. I would hate it. Count the best part of an hour, especially at rush hour, each way, with undisciplined traffic creating nervous tension. That is to/from the start of the motorway in Strovolos. If your work is in the centre of Nicosia, depending where about, you may have to count as much as an extra ½ hour. There are buses but the public transport system is underdeveloped here. There are also intercity shared taxis which are efficient and not as expensive as they sound.

Many people do it out of necessity. But if you have an option to work in the same city that you live then it is much better. It will save you 2 hours in your day and 100 pounds per month in gas.

i know it's much better and easier to live and work in the same city.
just that the company i would love to work for is in nicosia and my place to live is definitely limassol... (im not even in cyprus yet)

I think there is a bus who travels from Limassol to Nicosia on a daily basis ,to bring government employess who stay in Limassol to their jobs in Nicosia . So they all share the same bus and expenses /monthly . Maybe you can find more details on this!

members of my family used to do that, but it ended up being tiresome so they just elected to move to Nicosia...

Samaya...hundreds of people do that...travel from Nicosia to Limassol or Larnaca and vice versa...it cost tho!! The distance from Nicosia to Limassol is about 45-60 min!!! But depend on the area you live and what time you will have to be at work
