This is very strict. The animal must have various injections with earliest and latest dates (I think rabies has quite a narrow time window) and must be identifiable by microchip or ear tattoo, with the number inscribed in it's "passport" and veterinary certificate of health. The plane it comes on must fly directly without a stopover. If this is not possible, then a veterinary certificate of health must be obtained from the last country visited. Failing any of these, the animal must be quarantined for 6 months (in some cases, a home quarantine will be permitted, provided that it cannot leave the premises or come in contact with other animals).
