We have to make clear this situation because rent a cars can be taken in the North (GCs always says that you cant take but dont beleive it) as long as you pay £10 insurance on the door and you can stay in north as much as you like . I rent many time from petsas and i took the car north may be 20 times . Ask micheal in Nicosia the manager. If tourist come always they tell dont pass north bla bla bla but its not true. All cyprus in EU and because you are Eu citizen you are allowed to go every point of it. And for the car its not problem at all. I dont like this attitude that they tell u cant go north . One time the guy thought i m tourist and i didnt mention that i m a TC and what a things he tell me you cant imagine. After when i told him i m TC he surprised and said sorry. Now i have my own car there and no need to rent .I can send many pictures about how i pass north cyprus with GC rentacars. I will send you some pictures as well.

So how much taxi from LCA airport to Larnaca to begin my journey then? Would that be expensive? Looks like a car is best for me then unless anyone else thinks that the transport system is worth a try...

Dont worry . Noone will inturrupt you on the roads and they drive very slow like uk. Trust me you will be safe. I m sure noone here will tell you use transport because we dont have it or you have to wait long . Taxi will cost you Min £4 and £1 a mile. same like london. Larnaca will cost you about £10. Tell me when you coming and i know this petsas owner michalis and i will get you very good deal . You can also try lastminute.com for car rental but i will get you cheaper . Myself every time i go holiday i rent a car and trust me you will endup paying more if you take taxis where you want to . When you rent a car you can go anywhere you like night and day . Gav. I asked specifically if I could take the Petsas car over to the north and the Petsas man told me categorically NO. I have asked on two occasions the last time in January this year. So obviously the BIG BOSS in Nicosia isn't passing the message down to his offices in Paphos and Limassol is he??? I have even asked other car hire companies the same thing and they have all told me NO. we were not allowed to take their cars over to the North.

May be because you are English they tell you you can not pus because they dont want tourist go to North Cyprus but legally aslongas you pay the insurance you can cross north with a rentacar . You give me new business idea to i open a carrental in South called Passnorthcarrental.com

Did you book the car ? if not send me dates and i will book it for you with a permission to pass North

Parking is not problem at all and parking charges are very low. If you get a ticket its about £15 but very rare . Noone will never broke into your car and if you dont have a bagage or valuable things in it you dont even need to lock your doors. I never lock myself even night . Very safe all Cyprus. I been one time in jewellery shop in nicosia and the guy gave me the bag full of diamonds and start to serve another guy who wanted to buy a watch. I asked him the diamond which is 3 carat and i even warned him that if i m change the diamond and steal some of them from the bag you will not understand and he replayed , he trusted me . Cyprus id very interesting place about this kindof things.
