Yes from a military perspective they would care about british bases.
But Jersey is UK sovereign territory, the majority of Cyprus is not. Even when sovereign territory was attacked (Falklands war) the actions of the British government weren't based on looking after the people, more a matter of principle and future military status.
Consider somewhere like Zimbabwe, a (suspended) commonwealth country. Look how the people there have been treated, and are suffering, many more people than in the whole of cyprus. Does the British government give a toss? Regrettably, no. So I doubt they would give much of a toss about the people of Cyprus.
"Ah", I hear you cry, "but what about all the cypriot residents of the UK and families of people in Cyprus?". Yes, but look how many people protested in the UK against the Iraq war but this country still followed the US. You've got more chance of the UK caring about Israel, because they follow the US who care about Israel because of the number of Jews that live in America.
Basically, the labour government can't even run its own country let alone trying to sort out other countries round the world. And if they did try and sort out other countries then I'm sorry, but Cyprus would not be high up on the list of priorities. And it doesn't matter how many posts you might make on this forum son, that ain't going to change. About a zillion people have just signed a petition to downing street about road price charging and blair is about to ignore that, so he'll have no trouble ignoring you. And when that scummy scotsman brown takes over, rest assured nothing is going to change.
