Ah, they say sarcasm is the lowest form of wit.... but then they only say that because "they" just didn't get it ;)

That reminds me of those newspaper headlines some years ago,

"IRISH BOAT PEOPLE REACH VIETNAM!"

Sanja, I would go to the embassy and ask about it. It wasn't a serious crime and maybe you are lucky and you dropped off the stop list faster than say someone who did something worse...

Yes, Andri, I'm counting on that, it's not like I'm a criminal or something...I am aware that it is a fellony to live ilegally, but at the age of 21 you just DO not think of it. At least me and my friend didn't.

And the irony is that a year ago I started working for the police. :)
So maybe when I go to the CY embassy and politely explain to them that the reason why I stayed back then is cause I fell in love with their way of life, was young, and also fell madly in love with a half Cypriot half English man, whom I thought was my other half, (and I couldn't get over him for the next three years after going back to Serbia)...and after I tell them I am a good citizen, and that I wouldn't do anything like that ever again....I think they will forgive me. :D
They'll say "Ok Sanja, here's a life time visa" :D

Anyway, thank you all for replying... I know this is a big issue in many countries....but that was not the point of my asking you for advice...

Ciao! :)
All the best

Sanja, do you realise you've probably just broken the heart of most of the guys on this forum by revealing that ;)

LOL! You're still young, female, and might end up in Cyprus: that's good enough for all the sad, old, desperate geeks that post on here ;) (and I shall not reveal whether I include myself in that description or not :P )

hahahaha Pete! :)

Pitsilos, My surname IS different, but there is one thing that doesen't change- your personal number, don't know the word in english for it, and I don't know if people from other countries have that, or something similar...., the one that consists of your birthdate , including the date, the month and the year, and other 6 numbers. That's the way any computer system can find you. (in my country) But now when I think of it...maybe that's not something people have in CY, so maybe that's not how they can "find" me....hm....now you gave me something to think about.
I always assumed if we use those kind od personal numbers here, that's how it works in the rest of the world too....cause it's only logical to me.... hahah But maybe it doesen't work that way....The last time I tried to enter the country, back in 99, I had only changed the passport, but had the same maiden surname as before...Pretty stypid, now I see that, but I was shortsided then, just thinking of my loved one...head in the skies...you know...ah....
